You Can Help Today To Launch a New Ministry of Thinking Christianity!

Wow, are we ever in a time of change!

We’ve never seen anything like it. The turning of the year tonight is symbolic of massive social, moral, and especially spiritual changes taking place here in the United States.

Are Christians in America ready for it? What will it take?

Equipping and Encouraging Those Who Can Lead

There are plenty of ministries writing and speaking on answers to challenges raised against the faith. But there is no one I am aware of — and I’ve been exploring this for years — who is focused on helping connect the crucial final step: translating those answers into practical, loving, relational ministry in local churches and communities.

But this is a time of change — and that’s changing, too!

Launching a New Ministry of Equipping and Encouraging

As of just a few months ago, God has given me opportunity to start such a ministry. By his grace I’ve begun establishing the first of many networks, here in the Cincinnati-Dayton area, meeting with lay persons, pastors, and evangelists who are crying out for encouragement and equipping.

The two-fold goal by the end of 2017 is:

  • To have this southwest Ohio group fully functioning and meeting regularly, with a team of leaders to organize meetings, events, outreaches, and conferences to equip local leaders for ministry; and
  • To identify local leaders who can reproduce the same work of equipping and encouraging in several other cities around the country.

Major Growth and Resource Needs

I am leading this on a part-time basis, even though it’s poised to go multiply nationwide. For three-quarters of my time I work as a senior editor at the Christian website The Stream. This other new ministry constitutes the other half of my working time. (Yes, that adds up to more than 100 percent. It’s quite intentional, I assure you!)

My wife, Sara, and I have spent more than three decades in full-time ministry with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) and Ratio Christi, serving in national/global leadership positions in each of these ministries. We’re committed to doing what it takes to make a difference for Christ in the world.

How You Can Help Free Up Opportunities To Equip and Encourage Christians Across the Country

This new ministry is a huge undertaking, and I can’t do it alone.

The hardest part of all is managing all the huge number of needs and opportunities. I’m praying that you might be able to help reduce a major part of that burden — the fund-raising part — through a significant year-end financial contribution.

Your tax-deductible gift will go toward meeting salary needs for this part of my work (my income from The Stream is only three-fourths sufficient; it’s a three-quarter-time job, after all), as well as for travel, meeting, and communication expenses.

Best of all, your contribution will allow me to focus my time and attention on the work that needs to be done.

You can give monthly, quarterly, annually, or a simple one-time special contribution in any amount via Global Service Network (online giving here).

Thank you! Your partnership in this blog and this ministry is a continuing blessing, and I thank God for you!

  1. RE. “To identify local leaders who can reproduce the same work of equipping and encouraging in several other cities around the country.”

    ~~~~~ Please explain how you plan to achieve this. Thanks.
