Making a mountain out of a Pop-Tart—that's the image seven-year-old Josh Welch says he had in mind as he chomped off artistically selected corners of the pastry.
Making a proverbial mountain out of a Pop-Tart—that's what his teacher and principal appear to have done when they saw the shape of a gun in his rendition of breakfast. According to this report, they suspended Josh for two days and sent the other students home because of the “disruption.”

I’m really hoping someone will look closer at this and tell me it’s a parody.
I’d be more concerned about the fact that the school is giving my kids Pop-Tarts for a snack; what a way to encourage healthy eating!
Gotta disagree with you on this one. Teachers and administrators not knowing the difference between a Pop-Tart and a deadly weapon is more harmful than some sugar.
I think you are seriously underestimating what would have happened if he’d shot someone with that pop-tart.
As a frustrated teacher myself, I’m very tired of fear of lawsuits and cries of “you should have stopped this” being more important to schools than the emotional growth of children.
In fact, my wife was nearly fired from a job for shouting “We love you!” to some children as they left school. Because, y’know, the last thing children need is to know they’re loved.
The anti gun frenzy coming from the political left is a sight to be seen. They’re in complete meltdown over this subject. I believe this is “a bridge too far” for them and that the blowback has potential to be significant.
