Mike Adams on Ratio Christi

Townhall.com columnist and UNCW professor Mike Adams tells of his visit to a Ratio Christi conference last fall:

While I was there to speak, I was also there to learn. And what I learned was that Ratio Christi is the ideal campus Christian organization. There may be scores of Christian organizations already. But none prior to Ratio Christi were focusing on apologetics training. Such training is desperately needed to keep kids from falling away during college. How can students remain firm in their faith if they are not hearing both sides of the story? And how can they remain grounded if they were never grounded in the first place?

I’ve been privileged to know and to work with Ratio Christi’s national leadership and some of their chapter directors, and they were kind enough to let me lead a strategic-thinking session at that same conference. I think they would be a little uneasy with Mike’s implication that RC is better or more timely than any other of the “scores of Christian organizations.” They know that apologetics is not all there is to the Christian life. Their purpose is to serve other campus ministries, not to compete with them.

Other than that, I agree wholeheartedly. I work with Cru, the U.S. ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, which (pardon the bias 🙂 ) I think is top-notch among student ministries—yet I know that students everywhere, including Cru students, need good apologetics equipping like never before.

So thank you, Mike, for getting the word out on Ratio Christi. Thank you also, Mike, for encouraging donations to Ratio Christi. Though my own work is funded by donations as theirs is, I’m going to second MIke on that message, and throw in a giving link to boot.
