Steve Jobs, 1955-2011

He was a great man in so many ways.

I share other Christians’ concern over his spiritual ethical choices. That is between Steve Jobs and God now.

Regardless of that, his memory serves to support what I was just saying: that there is something distinct and very special about the way God made all of us, whether we believe in him or not. To be human includes the capacity for creativity and skill, the ability to imagine and sometimes even to achieve excellence. Steve Jobs had all of this in superior degree. God rest his soul.

I was pretty ticked off when the Manhattan Declaration app was blocked from the App store. One thing in Jobs favor though: At least under his watch the App store was porn-free, and Jobs adamantly supported that position. It’s sad that ‘didn’t allow porn into the store for his major media device’ is now a shining sign in these things, but such is the case.

Jobs revolutionized phones. He also revolutionized independent media and programming in some important ways – ways which I wish more Christians would take advantage of. I have to see if there’s a serious association for Christian or even theistic programmers around.

A tribute from Colbert… He steps out of character for one brief moment.
