My daughter was bullied all through grade school and even into her high school years. One of those incidents required significant medical attention. Her Christian faith was one reason she was made a target.

Christianity itself is often a target of bullying in the form of ridicule. Dan Savage did it in his speech to high school journalists last year. Here’s the thing, though: bullying is usually a show of strength to hide some weakness. Anti-Christianity bullying is no exception.

Today’s blog post on Leviticus 19:19 speaks of one example. The verse looks strange to us: why not mix fabrics and etc.? It’s an easy target for ridicule—but the attack is really a display of 21st century ignorance. The answer (see the link) is really quite simple; we could even identify the charge as 21st century intolerance for legitimate cultural differences, added to contemporary ignorance of past cultures.

I wish I had space here to deal with the general topic of bullying among children. Our family has way too much experience with it. I’ll come back to that someday, probably.

For now what I want to communicate is that anti-Christianity bullying is typically a display of weakness covered up by aggression—just like bullying is in most other cases.
