Major Blog Upgrade Coming!

If the Lord wills and all goes well, I'll be switching this blog over to a new look and structure tomorrow (Wednesday). What's here will remain available to read, and comments will remain open for reading and writing, but new posts will go into the new system. The iBlog software I've been using is getting old, and an upgrade has been promised for nigh unto three years now. It's time to just let it go.

The web address will remain the same. If you're accessing this by RSS Reader, you'll need to use a new address, which I'll publish when it's time.

So don't be surprised if the next time you see this page it looks very new and different. See you there!

Opportunity Overload

It's a great thing: I have tremendous things going on now in my ministry work and in various writing projects. It's (almost) all the kind of work I can really get excited about doing--helping ministries and churches be more effective. But it's requiring me to make priority decisions the likes of which I haven't faced in a while.

Counter-Belief Challenge

What are the most important books or articles opposed to Christianity, that a Christian ought to deal with if he really wants to defend the truth of his faith? I've read and written on several of these that have received media attention, but I know that's not necessarily the best way to find where the real thinkers are. I'm offering to take up your suggestions--books or articles that you think pose a serious challenge to Christian belief. I'm interested in suggestions from atheist objectors, from questioning seekers, from Christians who are having a hard time understanding something they've read, or (in short) anyone with a good question or challenge for the Christian faith.

About to Return

For the past two weeks I've been in Colorado, first for a Campus Crusade staff conference and then for some family vacation time. I don't generally like to announce when we're away from home, for the sake of our home's security, so I haven't said much about this time away. I've added a couple of blog entries in the past two weeks but I have not been much involved in the comments discussion. That will probably continue for a couple more days, while we settle back in at home and I get caught up again at the office. Then I'll be back into dialogue as usual.

Are Comments Working Correctly?

A week or two ago I put a couple of new features on the comments--a character count and clickable links for style tags. Since then, I've had trouble sometimes getting HaloScan to work right for me using the Apple Safari browser. It works fine consistently in Firefox.

For those of you who read and/or write comments, especially those who use Safari, are you having any difficulty with them? No need to respond if the answer is yes, only if it has been causing problems. And I'm not referring to the "missing colon separator" problem, which is an old problem that I'm trying to get them to solve. The problem I've had recently is a new one: the page will start to load, but won't finish.

My other blog: Strategic Christian. As a strategic planner for a mission agency, I've felt I've had things to share with other Christians on this topic. It won't be all "how to do it," because the heart of Christian strategy is the heart of the Christian. But the focus will primarily on how to live in Christ and have a strong impact for him.

Totally tech-ed

No, that's not "teched" as in American slang for "touched in the head." (I hope not, anyway.)

I've been working on pure tech stuff--new web hosts for this blog and some other web-related work I'm doing. It's taking all the time I usually use to think about writing here, (in addition to my job, of course) so I haven't had much writing to offer.

Technical Difficulties

The navigation bar on the right side of this blog page has not been loading properly. I've disabled the "Recent Comments" for now, because they were not loading and they seemed to be preventing the page from opening completely. This service relies on an external web source, so it's not completely under my control.

The blogroll isn't working either. Blogrolling.com, which supplies this service, is down as of this writing. In order to isolate the page load problem I've disabled the blogroll as well, for the time being. (Update Saturday afternoon--this seems to be working again so I've re-enabled it.)
