Totally tech-ed

No, that's not "teched" as in American slang for "touched in the head." (I hope not, anyway.)

I've been working on pure tech stuff--new web hosts for this blog and some other web-related work I'm doing. It's taking all the time I usually use to think about writing here, (in addition to my job, of course) so I haven't had much writing to offer.

I do have a good word to put in for the new web host, though. HostMySite.com has inexpensive plans for people like me who don't need a huge amount of space. That's not the best part, though. I've had occasion to contact their support personnel several times in the past week. In every case, the phone was answered immediately by a person--not a recording, not even a phone tree, but a real live person who was friendly, gracious, and knew exactly what he was doing. One of the issues was, to me, a complicated one dealing with importing a MySQL database, and it was resolved in just a few minutes. They also handled my other questions with exceptional friendliness and professionalism.

How often do you hear that about a tech support call line? It sure got my attention! I've already sent emails to the company, marveling at their excellent service. If you're looking for a web host, you have my recommendation for this one.

Thanks, by the way, to my web designer friend Bryan for referring me to this group.
