Technical Difficulties

The navigation bar on the right side of this blog page has not been loading properly. I've disabled the "Recent Comments" for now, because they were not loading and they seemed to be preventing the page from opening completely. This service relies on an external web source, so it's not completely under my control.

The blogroll isn't working either. Blogrolling.com, which supplies this service, is down as of this writing. In order to isolate the page load problem I've disabled the blogroll as well, for the time being. (Update Saturday afternoon--this seems to be working again so I've re-enabled it.)

One side effect of this has been that my stats haven't been recording properly. TTLB, for example, picks up its stats from SiteMeter, which shows only 16 visits so far today! Apparently that's because the page hasn't been loading fully enough to activate the script that notifies SiteMeter.

By the way, if you ever do look up the stats there at TTLB, they're not accurate anyway. I can't find a way to get the SiteMeter script properly encoded in the RSS feed, so RSS visits are never counted there. On the other stats page I use, which was unaffected by the script problem, it shows a more realistic recent daily average of about 600 visits a day. It's still not in the stratosphere--but it's better than 16!
