With apologies to non-U.S. readersThis is a strictly American story. This morning my
15-year-old son offered up this intriguing piece of trivia: a U.S. quarter has
119 ridges on its edge, and a dime has
118.
So I said, "I guess that's how we can tell them apart in the dark." Okay, after that, U.S. readers may be asking for
apologies too.
But it reminds me of something someone else told me years ago. I do not vouch for the scientific accuracy of this; it's just something I heard. You may need to read it aloud to catch the deep truth here. What's the difference between a crow and a raven? Well, a crow's wings have 6 pinions, and a raven's wings have 7. So the difference between a crow and a raven is a difference of a pinion. Posted: Tue - January 30, 2007 at 08:53 AM | |
