Intelligent Design Is Ruining Science Education!

Naturalistic evolutionists have often rung alarm bells to warn that teaching/talking about/allowing mention of Intelligent Design would lead to scientific illiteracy. The United States, where religious belief is wider and (maybe) deeper than other countries, would fall behind the rest of our world in our self-imposed ignorance.

Well, that was always ridiculous on the face of it.

But now we have data (scientific data, mind you) on the matter, posted today at Uncommon Descent:

US Scientific Literacy Exploded Upward Starting in 1995

US Leads in ID Belief, Trails in Astrology Belief

Not to spoil the mystery in that first link, but here's an interesting publication date for you to notice. Come to think of it, 1995 wasn't so long after this. The article cites some correlates with scientific literacy, but unless I missed it, those correlates don't explain the knee bending upward in the graph at that point.

But maybe some science discussion really is being undermined, after all.
