A Couple of Shermer Postscripts

There are some priceless comments over at Telic Thoughts on Michael Shermer's theologizing. I couldn't resist passing them along. (These are in regard to an article previously discussed here.)

DonaldM wrote,

"Wasn't it one of Shermer's buddies who said 'that which explains everything, explains nothing'? Apparently evolution explains both the presence and absence of religion, explains both theism and atheism, and is compatiable with any worldview, no matter how contradictory. Wow, what a neat theory!"

Douglas said much the same, though the way he said it just made me laugh:

"A remarkably fruitful theory. In fact, it cannot fail to be fruitful. Amazingly, it encompasses both truth and error, explaining both, and even supporting both."

There's also a follow-up on the other Shermer-related topic. Scott Gilbreath, who did the first professional research analysis on the "research" referenced in that Skeptic article, has just written his response.
