Over-Reaction Upon Over-ReactionFirst of all, whoever beat up Prof. Mirecki was
completely wrong. The two who did it reportedly were motivated by anger at his
anti-Christian, anti-ID
communications, which were also way out of line. Bloggers out there
are also way out of
line for treating this crime as representative of entire groups of
people.
I wonder if there is anyone out there who would
speak evolutionist/atheist views while not really representing that group?
Nah. It's quite obvious that these two (quoting from the linked page) revengeful extremist fundamentalist creationist blackmailing fundie evophic anti-darwinist radical militant theocratic Christian terrorist goons gone natural are quite representative of all Christians and/or everyone who opposes evolution. After all, we know so much about their beliefs! And we know that everyone else on their side secretly agrees with everything they do and say. No, not really. How about if everyone just calms down? If we disagree with the professor, as I certainly do, let's do it civilly. If we disagree with the thugs who beat him up, as I certainly do--and I'm truly grieved both that they hurt the man and that they reportedly did it because of his beliefs--let's not assume they represent anything but themselves.
