Civil Rights Abuses Promoted By the "Gay Rights" Movement

Are civil rights arguments from gays credible? Consider such claims in light of this:

From World Net Daily (via Danny Carlton): a Christian businessman has been ordered by his state government to reproduce materials promoting lesbianism. That is government prescribing an individual's speech.

Thinly Disguised Totalitarianism -- the eroding of religious freedoms in Canada. See the four egregious examples at the end of the article, including a Catholic High School being ordered to allow boys to attend a prom together as each others' dates; and a Christian University being denied the right to certify its graduates as teachers because its code of conduct stands against homosexual behavior. That is government trampling on Christian beliefs.

Boston Catholic Charities cannot put any children up for adoption because they will not place them with homosexual couples. That's a violation of their rights to practice their religious beliefs. Also in Massachusetts, Justices of the Peace who would not officiate at same-sex "marriages" for religious reasons were fired.

Georgia Tech prohibits criticism of homosexuality. First Amendment, anyone?

Meanwhile, Canada censors criticism of homosexuality, and Sweden did the next thing to it, convicting a pastor of hate speech (he was acquitted on appeal). Pardon my ignorance of other countries' constitutions, but don't they guarantee freedom of speech and religion, too?

Tufts University tried to require a Christian organization to put a homosexual in leadership, in contradiction to the group's religiously-based beliefs.

Video producers are attempting to teach young public school children that homosexuality is morally equivalent to heterosexual marriage--a clear attempt at a governmentally-endorsed instruction against religious beliefs. And it's not just one attempt.

California is teaching students to avoid any disagreement with homosexual practice. That's a governmental intrusion into religious education. (The NEA is closely aligned with the Gay and Lesbian Caucus on this.)

Montgomery County, MD, had a requirement on the books to teach students this:

Among other things, course materials described as a "myth" the belief that "homosexuality is a sin" and characterized certain Christian religions as "intolerant and Biblically misguided" because they are "opposed to homosexuality."

When this was struck down by the courts, a homosexual spokesperson spun it this way, in total and utter disregard for the flagrant, egregious violation of religious freedoms in that law:

"It seems that a small number of dissenters in Montgomery County had access to the levers of power to disrupt the process that was initiated by a citizens' advisory committee.... It does seem … some very basic underpinnings of our American pluralism is at stake."

Kirk and Madsen, who wrote the strategy for the homosexual agenda, have reportedly had this liberal attitude to share: "our primary objective regarding die-hard homo-haters of this sort is to cow and silence them." The source for this sets forth other egregious examples of "civil rights" bullying in schools, businesses, and even toward churches.

There is also this lengthy compendium of offenses.

The temper of the gay movement is not just to make their cause seem right but to make those who oppose it to be religious and moral cretins, and to impose that morality on the rest of us by force of law and government-enforced education. Whatever claims are made in favor of gay rights, let's not accept their cynically politically posture of saying it's about not about civil rights.
