It was a flurry of work for me to get this blog up to speed on the new web system, and a few other writing deadlines landed on top of the whole project. I feel like a have a brand-new car raring to go, but I can’t get it out of the garage because there are too many chores to do around the house.

Actually, that’s more than a metaphor: there may not be a new car in the garage, but there actually have been too many chores to catch up on around the house, and on the job–things I set aside for a while as I was making this change, but still need to be done

I’m still tweaking the header and sidebar a bit. But maybe tomorrow I’ll get this blog on the road again for real.

  1. The new format looks great so far, Tom! I continue to appreciate your blog and the food for thought it offers. Thanks.

No worries Tom.. You’re doing great. We can understand all the housework. :)

  3. Thanks, friends!

  4. Tom,
Thanks for the site. I am encouraged by it daily.

If I may make one suggestion about the new site. When on the comments page the text boxes for name, email, comments use such a light border they are
almost invisible. If I’m not exactly in front of my LCD display the fields are completely blended into the background.

I tried to email this to you but your smtp server won’t relay from my location from some reason. Weird.

    Thanks,
    Dale

  5. Dale, does it look better now? I think you’re saying the problem is just with the comments borders, and that the problem is with the part that has to do with composing the comments, not with reading them. I’d like to do something with the background on the already-posted comments, too, but I’ll need my son’s extra web-design wisdom for that.

  6. Here’s another question. I get different results with different browsers on this: how readable is the text you type in the comment box? Is it large enough?

  7. Yes, the problem I noted is only with the borders. It’s very good now. I can see the border from all angles. The text in the comment box is large enough for my eyes and I think typical for most blogs. It does have that same faded look as the text in the submitted comments. It isn’t as dark as the text in you post up top. It isn’t unreadable because of this though. My preference would be for the text in it and the submitted comments to be as dark as the main post but that may just be me. How it is now want drive me away.
    I’m using firefox 2.0.0.9 btw.

    Thanks for the change.
